"In My Imagination" Art & Play Guide

$30.00

This summery guide is packed with our favorite imagination-boosting, creative confidence-inducing, easy-to-prep invitations, projects, and experiences. It doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, many of our invitations require one or two basic materials that you might have on hand whether you’re at home, in the classroom, on a picnic, or even on an airplane. As usual, we kid-tested every one of the invitations we’ve designed, and we’re happy to report that not only did children and adults alike enjoy the creative prompts and games, but our experiences were full of laughter, connection, magic, and fun! We have also included three sample “camp” days using our invitations along with snacks and book ideas.

Our guides blur the line between art and play. They are inclusive and honor each child’s individuality and way of thinking and working. They are more than a collection of art ideas; they are the key to a cohesive, child-centered, manageable creative practice for your classroom or any space where children gather, explore, learn, and grow.

In this guide you will find:

  • 20 creative invitations using every day, low-prep materials that are either recycled, collected in nature, or already on hand

  • 2 extended projects that are more step-by-step where children can learn unique skills and use what they’ve made for imaginary play

  • Master supply list

  • The four creative thinking skills that children can learn through open-ended invitations

  • Real-life examples of following a child’s lead when they take an experience in their own direction

  • 3 enriching “camp day” schedules perfect for a group of multi-age children

  • A rich, teacher-approved picture book list with an emphasis on diversity, inclusion, earth stewardship, and kindness

  • An artist spotlight that connects with the theme and nurtures a child’s curiosity, provides them with ways to notice and appreciate diverse perspectives, and establishes an early foundation for art appreciation

  • An at-a-glance reference printable of the month’s invitations for easy planning
