This is the 3rd workshop in our Year of Yes series and continues the work of translating values into everyday practice. After exploring how to design environments and advocate for process-based learning (see Design for Discovery and Set it Up and See What Happens), this session focuses on what happens in the moment, when children are creating, struggling, negotiating, or asking for help. We explore what gentle support really looks like, how to scaffold children’s thinking without interrupting their process, and how to integrate children’s ideas and interests in real time. You’ll learn specific language aligned with social-emotional development, along with strategies for handling frustration, mistakes, creative blocks, and “I can’t do it” moments with care and clarity. Through real examples and small, actionable shifts, this workshop supports educators and caregivers in showing up with confidence, presence, and trust so children feel capable, resilient, and supported as they create.
